My DeviantART Story

It's been about four years since I first started on dA. A girl I met at camp introduced me to it - and my first piece posted was actually just a digital version of her sketch, lineart-ed with a newly downloaded GIMP. Then I started doing some more drawings, mostly for people's birthdays.

THEN I SAVED UP ENOUGH MONEY FOR A REFURBISHED TABLET AND IT WAS amazing. I remember being so excited that lines I drew would appear on screen - suddenly it was so much easier to draw digitally.

I remember for a period of time I tried to copy a lot of pictures that I really liked in hopes of improving my art. Not original at all, but I did have fun imitating. Eventually I realized that I was better off drawing stuff from scratch.

So I turned to fanart: there were so many amazing series out there that I loved and wanted to spread the love for… I had comparatively more views, but while fanart was fun I really wanted to try drawing just for the sake of drawing - developing my own characters and storylines...

Cloudburst, Indictive, Beginning with a White Lie, and stories that I never thought of a name for… They're still in my head, waiting to be told.

I still do fanart, requests, etc., but now I know what I like to draw the most. It's going to take a long time, but I hope someday I'll have these tales drawn.

How to Know a Person?

Do you ever really know anyone?

Well.
It's pretty hard to know people, I think. But that's what makes it interesting: they always surprise you.

We should get to know each other better; what do you think?

1. Name a crazy food you like, but no one else seems to like.
Ripe bananas! I wait until they're speckled with brown before I eat them. They're the tastiest when ripe; the skin gets thinner and the banana itself is more aromatic and creamy and sweet. I just don't get why everyone eats them before they're ripe...?
2. What's one hobby of yours that everyone is always surprised to hear about?
Gardening and crochet.
3. Who do you admire?
My mother, and people who've managed to do the things I want to do one day. (and lots and lots of amazing artists.)
4. What's one book that revolutionized your childhood?
Many books have, but off the top of my head, I would say the Narnia series. It was very enthralling, and later on when I found out it had religious undertones (my piano teacher pointed it out to me) it really was something to ponder about.
5. What's your biggest regret?
My social clumsiness when I was younger.
6. What's something that you'd like to do but can't? (at least, not yet)
START A WEBCOMIC. DRAW. SING. ACTUALLY BE GOOD AT COOKING.
7. A pet peeve that drives you up the wall.
People who think it's acceptable to smoke at public bus stops. Just because it's outdoors doesn't mean you are allowed! Think about the other people waiting for the bus - what if one of them has asthma and can't move away because they're WAITING FOR THE FREAKING BUS?
8. Favourite riddle ever?
I am the centre of gravity. I hold a capital position in Vienna. I have three helpers in love, and three accomplices in vice. I am always the foremost in victory, and am acknowledged by all to be invaluable. I am invisible, but you can find me in the midst of a river. It is in vain that you seek me for I have long been in heaven yet even now lie embalmed in the grave. What am I?

Considering username change

Alright, I am seriously considering an username change.

flufz is tied to something that was pretty dear to me in the past, but I've moved on from that.

I want to change it to aibite
pronounced ay-bee-tei

mainly just 'cause i like it

and also for these silly reasons:
- Doesn't mean anything exactly, which is kind of what I want.
- It has the chinese word for love in it (ai), which is cliché but whatever.
- Starts with A, as does my real name.
- I'm looking forwards to all the bad "I BITE" jokes that will be made.
- I swear I heard "aibite" in the Free! ED song. No joke. Go listen to it, haha. I was considering different usernames while watching anime, and then I heard it and was like YES THAT'S IT, IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING I COULD USE!
(turns out what was sung was actually "abite" which kind of means "to shower" in japanese. Makes sense for a swimming anime?)

but before I do so - I should probably ask:

does that mean anything in anyone's language? Or is it just gibberish? I don't want to end up naming my account something that means something weird in another language. XD

so, any opinions?
